Engaging the Enemy A Will and a Way / Boundary Lines Nora Roberts Books
I couldn't finish either book. Ugh! Both of the books had premises that interested me but the finished story did not have characters I liked at all, especially the bitchy heroines. I was surprised Nora Roberts wrote these stories. If you want to read an excellent story by Ms. Roberts, read "Carnal Innocence" or another, "Public Secrets". I'm soooo thankful "Carnal Innocence" was the first book I read. It was a recommendation from another book lover. If I had read "Engaging with the Enemy" first, it would have been my last.

Engaging the Enemy A Will and a Way / Boundary Lines Nora Roberts Books Reviews
Nora Roberts writes with ease and confidence. Her prose is always lucid and her plots are credible. Characterization is one of Nora's strengths, with people being revealed rather than described, thereby allowing the reader to engage the text with greater intimacy. This aspect of her writing was recently discussed during an interview with David Letterman on the 'Tonight Show', and at the conclusion of the interview, Letterman's side-kick, Paul Shaffer, screamed out at the top of his voice, 'Hey Nora! I engaged the enemy 20 years ago. Then I married her.' To her credit, Ms Roberts ignored the buffoon's comments and maintained a dignified, Harpo Marx-like silence, concluding the interview with a honk of her bicycle horn. It was a telling moment.
I've read just about everything Nora Roberts has written. Unfortunately, I get so excited when I see a "new" Nora Roberts' novel that I often end up with re-packaged, re-done, re-printed versions of novels I've already read. This is one of them! Some people are blaming this on the author's greed to make more money off the re-released novels. However, Nora herself is evidently upset by this re-hashing...because she now has her publisher put an NR emblem on NEW releases. So...look for the emblem, and you'll know it's just been released for the very first time! Of course, a Nora Roberts re-issue is very often much better than anything new from someone else! I give the five to the original novel and a one to the publishers for re-packaging it! Nora...please keep the new ones coming!
These are two classic Nora Roberts stories, both very entertaining and light and easy summer reading.
Boundary Lines was my personal favorite of the two, but both are still great stories. Boundary Lines is about a family feud between the Barons and the Murdocks. Aaron Murdock and Jillian Baron are adults who have grown up with the feud, so when Jillian sees Aaron trespassing, so to speak, on her land, she lays into him because it has been so ingrained into her. But, both are deeply attracted to each other upon first meeting. Aaron wants to get to know her better, but Jillian fights the feelings developing between them because of her family loyalty. It is a struggle, and the conflict is mild, but the love story is great. A wonderful way to start off this "miniseries" of stories.
A Will and A Way is also a great story, with an interesting little mystery thrown into the mix to spice things up. Pandora McVie and Michael Donahue who are, according to the book synopsis, distant relatives, so take that as you will. They are both given bequests in their Uncle Jolley's will, and they have to live under his roof together for six months in order to fulfill the will. But, both decided to do it because otherwise, if I remember right, something would happen to their bequests that they didn't want to happen. Both figure things can't be that bad, but with the little mystery of who is trying to hurt them for their money, and the added romance, A Will and A Way is a great story.
Neither are Roberts best stories ever, but any romance fan should enjoy the theme of two "enemies" coming to terms in the best possible way love.
This is a two-story anthology, both written by Nora Roberts.
A WILL AND A WAY Pandora McVie and Michael Donahue are cousins, if only by marriage. They both adored their Uncle Jolley, but their relationship with each other has always been antagonistic. Uncle Jolley had played matchmaker between them before and failed, but now he's trying again, from the great beyond. His estate is worth one hundred fifty million dollars, to be split equally between Pandora and Michael, but there's a catch. They have to move into his mansion in the Catskills and live there together for six months. If they fail, the inheritance reverts to their shallow and greedy family members. Their family, of course, conspires and uses trickery to drive them out.
BOUNDARY LINES Jillian Baron inherited her Montana cattle ranch from her grandfather, and works tirelessly to keep it functioning at optimum level. The Barons have been feuding for generations with the neighboring ranch owners, the Murdocks. Aaron Murdock has just recently returned to assist his father with the running of the Double M. The chemistry between Jillian and Aaron is unmistakable, but someone is stealing cattle from Jillian, and all signs point to the Murdocks.
These stories were originally published separately as Silhouette Intimate Moments back in the mid 80's. I enjoyed both, and felt they each had pretty much stood the test of time. The first story felt only slightly dated. If you didn't read them when originally published, they would serve well for good, light summer reading. Separately, I would rate the first story 3 ½ stars, and the second one 4 ½ stars. Ms. Roberts does a good job portraying these volatile romances, a type I'm quite partial to reading.
sexy Nora
I loved this book. I kept going on and on. True to Nora Roberts style.
Nora Roberts is great! I have SO many of these books, it's ridiculous, but I do love them. They never get old to me. I read them over and over and keep buying more! I am very satisfied with the seller and would highly recommend them! I would use them again. You can't go wrong here! Really really good buy! I hope this review was helpful to you.
